Squirrels ask linebacker to play baseball
The Richmond Flying Squirrels have decided to honor both the career and foundation work of James Farrior by asking him to throw out the first pitch at the opening game of the Squirrels scheduled for Thursday, April 7th. Farrior will throw out a ceremonial first pitch at The Diamond on 2011 Opening Night, prior to the Flying Squirrels game with the New Britain Rock Cats (Minnesota Twins) at 7:05 PM.
"We're thrilled to continue our outstanding relationship with James (Farrior) and his wonderful foundation," said Flying Squirrels Vice President & COO Todd "Parney" Parnell. "Having him here for the opener will only add to what promises be a very special night, and anytime we can be part of a foundation as impactful as his, we will jump at that chance."
The foundation will have a booth at the game with information about the foundation, the upcoming celebrity weekend of events, and the new partnership with the Fuel Up To Play 60 program, which addresses the nutritional and fitness needs of today's youth.
Come join James and the Foundation as we root the Flying Squirrels to victory in their fist game of 2011!
