The James Farrior Foundation raises thousands of dollars to help underprivileged young people in the Richmond area.
JFF has provided hundreds of backpacks, filled with school supplies, to area students. The foundation provides college scholarships, each worth $6,000 over four years, to several high school students.
Farrior is active in the national bone marrow registry, and has a goal of having 5,100 people sign up in the Richmond and Pittsburgh areas this year.
James is honorary chairman of the Challenge for Champions, which seeks to find the right homes for children in foster care in the Pittsburgh area.
The James Farrior Foundation promotes student and athlete success by:
- Serving as a resource for students, athletes and parents
- Providing mentorship and assistance to young adults who aspire to become pro athletes and young adults who strive to become successful in respectable fields of work
- Providing individual counseling, group counseling, family counseling, chemical dependency counseling, rehabilitation counseling, education counseling, career development counseling, sexual issues counseling, diagnostic assessment, and related services
- Providing scholarships to young adults to farther academic pursuits through college application
- Providing sports camps, workshops and other training to improve academic and or athletic skills in prep for higher levels of competition
- Providing resources to support events earmarked for the benefit of disadvantaged or disabled children
- Collaborating and networking with other groups and similar organizations pursuing the same issues
